Since launching in early 2026, New Bayou has delivered civic engagement and capacity-building work that demonstrates our commitment to multi-generational design, accessibility, and measurable impact.

More Than a Workshop:
Building Tomorrow’s Community Leaders
This April, New Bayou partnered with Groundswell’s SEED Internship to run a community advocacy workshop in Galveston. In 90 minutes, students went from learning about advocacy to creating specific recommendations on parks, mobility, and community development that city leaders could act on. See how one workshop delivered both capacity and concrete outputs.

Cracking The Code: Utility & Regulatory Engagement Workshop
Designed and delivered workshop equipping community advocates and developers to navigate utility and regulatory systems. Created accessible frameworks breaking down complex business models and formal intervention processes. Experiential learning design built participant confidence to engage meaningfully in rate cases, distribution planning, and integrated resource planning proceedings.

Austin Energy: Expanding Equitable Clean Energy Access
Led comprehensive strategy addressing barriers to clean energy program adoption through community education, internal staff capacity-building, industry partnership development, and process optimization. Delivered 25+ neighborhood training events, created digital curriculum, and streamlined service delivery. Measurable improvements in accessibility, customer satisfaction, and program engagement across Austin’s diverse communities.

Fiji Rainwater Harvesting Initiative
Led 9-month water infrastructure project across remote Fijian island villages through cross-cultural coordination. Managed 115 international volunteers and multinational supply chains to deliver sustainable infrastructure. Trained community members on maintenance protocols, creating local ownership that has sustained systems for over a decade without external support.
